The game was heading for a penalty shoot-out situation when suddenly the Italians scored not just once but twice one in the 119th minute and the second in the 120th minute of the match.

The shocked Germans eventually picked up the third place.

The Second Semi Final – Portugal vs France

The Portugal was heavily depended on Ronaldo and Luis Figo to see them thru to the final, but Zidane had the last laugh has he scored the goal to take France to the final once again.


Final : Italy vs France

It had all the ingredients of a cracking game. Both teams were almost equal in every department and the game went into extra time. France was trying best to get the much needed goal and suddenly Zidane became involved in a altercation with Materazzi. Zidane used a head butt to get the Italian on floor ( this action sequence became famous). Zidane was asked to leave the field. In the penalty shoot out Italians scored all the 5 goals. And thus Italy became the World Champions.
