The Axe Effect: Who will FIFA kill? Portugal, Spain or Brazil?
The above headline has appeared in many newspaers and my take on this is completely different. I think people fail to note that Portugal due to their bad performance in the qualifiers where they barely managed to get into final 32.
If Brazil meeting Spain both play according to their rankings then they will meet in the final. So you asked the wrong question, its which team will kill itself not FIFA
The FIFA draw is conducted based on performance in qualifying not the actual ranking.

Football World Cup kicks off today in South Africa
Finally the D day has come. today evening (IST) 32 countries will start their campaign to conquer the cup.
For South Africa, the World Cup has provided employment opportunities and revenue. all the bad things would be forgotten once the games start. people would be more than happy discussing the game rather than complaining about other things.
The opening game is South Africa taking on Mexico in Soccer City, followed by Uruguay vs France in Cape Town.
Also this could easily be the largest recorded congregation of foreign visitors in a country. It would certainly be the highest ever viewed event. With 43,600 broadcasts across 214 countries at an average 73,072 hours of viewing, and an estimated cumulative viewership of 26.29 billion.

GERMANY
The Germans with their never to give up attitude always make them a strong contender for the cup. the biggest set back for them been Michael Ballack injured and out of the team. but still they are a side to reckon with.Players to look out for:
Philipp Lahm, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Miroslav Klose, Lkas Podolski.

Suspense continues over Drogba playing the world cup
Didier Drogba is set to join the Ivory Coast World Cup squad on Monday after weekend surgery on a fractured arm.
However, it is still not clear whether the African Footballer of the Year will be fit to play in the opening Group G match against Portugal in Port Elizabeth next week.
Drogba fractured the ulna, or inner bone, of his right forearm in a warm-up match against Japan in Switzerland on Friday.
The striker had surgery in Berne on Saturday, an operation Swiss doctors described as successful.
"His recovery has been extremely encouraging. It is suggested that, at this stage, all the signs are good and there is great hope the captain of the Elephants will be in action with his team mates as soon as possible," spokesman Roger Kouassi said.

" Wayne has matured a lot as a player" says Lampard
England midfielder Frank Lampard has warned his team-mates that discipline on the field will be a key factor for any World Cup success. He also rejected suggestions that striker Wayne Rooney might be easily provoked into hot-headed retaliation when England play the United States in their opening group C fixture on Saturday (June 12).
Rooney was sent off for retaliation, stamping on Portugal defender Ricardo Carvalho, in his last finals appearance in the quarter-finals four years ago.
Lampard, however, believes the fully-committed and energetic 24-year-old striker has matured sufficiently in the time since that dismissal to be able to rise above any deliberate attempts to prompt a red card.
"No I don't think so," he said. "Wayne has matured a lot as a player over the last few years as we all know, so I don't see that one happening."

Germany land in South Africa
Germany landed in south Africa, confident of winning the cup. Four Years back they finished third behind Italy and France and were runners-up to Brazil in the 2002 finals in South Korea and Japan.
They are always traditionally considered title contenders regardless of the state of the national team because of their famed refusal to give up no matter how desperate the situation in a World Cup match.
Hopes of Germany winning this time suffered a massive blow when midfielder and captain Michael Ballack was ruled out after tearing ligaments in the English FA Cup final.

After Cricket its Football in India
As the World Cup date is nearing, in India the most football crazy states been kerala and West Bengal will be very eager to the Kick off to happen.
Brazil & Argentina teams been favourities in India and supporters are going out of way to ensure that there is no disruption while during the match. A classic example Nainamvalappu, in the northern Kerala district of Kozhikode, here the locals are not complaining about being in the dark this summer. They are experiencing long power cuts for over a week now as the state electricity board repairs power cables in the area. Instead of being grumpy, though, the 7000-plus residents are happy. They know good times is round the cornor: Uninterrupted power during match time in June, when the World Cup kicks off in South Africa.
Far away to the east, Kolkata, there's a similar buzz building up as kick-off time nears.
Here, Lothar Matthaus kicked off the excitement five months ago, on January 15, when the German supremo unveiled the trophy during its global tour.
Soccer fever has also meant brisk sales for jerseys and flags of different teams. Hamsakoya, who runs a sports goods outlet, says he sold as many as 4000 pieces each of the Brazil and Argentina jersey in less than a month. Though the mood in the city predominantly favours Brazil, Hamsakoya says the demand was more for Argentina flags.

Another star out of World Cup due to injury: England captain Ferdinand
England captain Rio Ferdinand was ruled out of the World Cup on Friday after injuring his left knee in their first full training session since arriving in South Africa.
The 31-year-old central defender suffered a ligament injury in the final minutes of training after he went into a tackle and fell badly. Liverpool's Steven Gerrard will now captain the team.
Tottenham Hotspur's Michael Dawson is to fly to South Africa to take Ferdinand's place in the 23-strong squad.
Ferdinand took over as captain after Chelsea's John Terry was stripped of the job in February because of an off-pitch scandal involving his private life but he has not played regularly for Manchester United this season due to a succession of injuries.
The United defender appeared for England in the 2002 and 2006 World Cups and has made a total of 78 appearances, scoring three goals.

Drogba may be ruled out of World Cup due to injury
Didier Drogba is now sure to miss the World Cup after breaking his right arm on Friday in a warm-up match. The 32-year-old Drogba was taken off 15 minutes into Ivory Coast's 2-0 win over Japan after a high challenge by Japan defender Marcus Tulio Tanaka. He was then rushed to a hospital.
Drogba scored 29 goals in 32 Premier League matches this season, helping Chelsea win the title. He also has 45 goals in 70 appearances for his country.
Tulio said he had no intention to hurt Drogba. "God and everybody in the stadium saw it was a normal challenge," said the Brazil-born defender, who was shown a yellow card. "I do hope he gets better in time to play in the World Cup."
Two minutes before the challenge, Drogba's 22-meter (yard) free kick was deflected by Tulio into his own net.
FIFA rules stipulate that a player can be replaced because of injury up to 24 hours before a team's first match.
That gives Ivory Coast 10 days to see if Drogba's condition improves. The Ivoarians also play Brazil and North Korea in Group G.

Huge Welcome was given on their arrival in Zimbabwe for a friendly match
Brazil got a rapturous welcome when they arrived in Harare for a friendly with Zimbabwe as local fans tried to catch a glimpse of the squad.
Hundreds of cheering fans beating drums mobbed Brazil coach Dunga and his players, including former World Footballer of the year Kaka and Robinho, as they entered a Harare hotel under tight police guard.
"This is unbelievable! Hosting this team is as good as having our own small World Cup in Zimbabwe," screamed one fan as the Brazilian players were ushered into the five-star hotel.

Two self -goals deny Japanese win over England
Two self goals saved England from the jaws of defeat in their final World Cup warm-up match as they came from behind to beat Japan 2-1 on Sunday.
Fabio Capello can be pleased with the result there is no hiding the fact that his experimental side under-performed for large sections of the match and needed five second-half substitutions to bring them to life.
England's performance in the first half in particular was miserable as Capello's side were slovenly in attitude, sloppy in possession and short on ideas.
That was in part down to an experimental 4-2-4 formation that featured Aaron Lennon on the left wing and Theo Walcott on the right, a tactic which left Frank Lampard and the one-paced Tom Huddlestone fighting a losing battle in midfield where Japan enjoyed plenty of possession.

2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa
With less than 20 days for the Football world cup to start, the fever is catching on. The big question would Italy retain their title or would there be a surprise. This world cup has no definite favorites. the strong contenders are Germany, Argentina, Netherlands, or would it be the 5 time world champion BRAZIL.
Also the most important award would be the Golden Boot. Would Messi be the guy or would it be Kaka.
All we pray is that let there be interesting matches and may the best team win
All the best to all the participating countries
